A new great song by you. Do I hear some megaman inspiration in this, perhaps? The composition is comparable.

I have one real criticizm towards this. The melody is quite repetitious, so perhaps having some sort of short breather a bit later on would be nice. The actual composition I have no issues with.

OpenLight responds:

This isn't one of my favorite tunes for sure. I do appreciate the compliments! I take a lot of inspiration from Megaman without intending to I guess haha. I loved the Megaman 2 soundtrack and have heard a ton of it, so it's influenced me a lot.

Your melody here is more varied and original, I can hear. The first synth that enters could use just a little more note distortion, just by a cent or two.

The... arpeggio(?) synth that soon after begins seems a bit off, perhaps if you had placed it an octave lower? I'm unsure of this, but it did compliment the song itself.

Perhaps I'm biased on how this doesn't sound "ominous" whatsoever to me, but it is a beautiful piece with some original quirks that definitely didn't hinder the song. Lastly, it just sounds... empty. It's just missing some sort of accompaniment. Not a bass, but perhaps a lower saw playing ever so quietly, adding it's own variance to the chord progression. Yup, another song that's definitely yours, you seem to be making your own style. I can't quite place what it is yet, but I can tell.

-Me, yup.

OpenLight responds:

Thanks for the reviews! I'm really glad you seem to be interested in my music. If I can ever finish another song, hopefully it lives up to expectations haha.

Great!

To F14m3Ph03n1x's extensive review of your song, I'm assuming it's like a stand your ground message, where you fight on for one sole purpose until you have no strength left to fight.

The song has a great structure, and the lyrics, despite some other opinions. It's great to hear a song with some clean vocals as well. Good job.

The acoustic guitar "solo" after "despite these thoughts that rape my soul" is actually very benefiting to this song's message, which is somewhat clear with enough thought.

Enough said, flat-out 9/10 5/5

Strange.

I love the song, but it has a strange effect at 0:52 with the throbbing synth were it makes the notes rise higher, but when the note becomes sharp, it sounds really ugly. Everything else deserves a ten. 9/10 5/5

OpenLight responds:

Ha uh thanks. How can I fix that one issue?

Wow

I see that the drums are great in this, but even for the trance song, some of the effects and a synth are REALLY quiet. I lose the synth once other effects start. It is a good song overall though, and it is only the sound balance out of place. I think a bunch of a**hole noobs are bombing you, because I brought it up almost a full point. 9/10 5/5

On the other side, where is my other great public, who'¨s supposed to at least get the score up to 2.45? I think they have fallen asleep.

I personally actually think this is a horrible song with potential directed in a the totally wrong direction. Could have used some more work on the build up.

Hehe, cheers

Wow.

This really does make me think of killer dolphins a bit! Some of the notes in the squeak that begins at 0:59 could be modified a bit, but it remains a great song overall. 5/5 9/10

OcularNebula responds:

thanks for the review, and well, I spent quite a while arranging and rearranging the squeak notes, but in the process I get too attached to how it sounds so it becomes hard for me to change anything. But yeah, I can hear the 0:59 bit going a bunch of potential different directions.

Just found this...

Wow. Just wow. I have always been a fan of your music, but this BLEW MY MIND! The melody changes a few times throughout the song, which many techno songs fail to do, and actually stands out from other melodies. The drum beat is so upbeat unlike many of your other songs. I have no constructive criticism for this as it is already perfect! 5/5 10/10 Favorited!

OpenLight responds:

Thank you! I'm really glad you like this. This song is old, maybe I'll make more like it in the future.

!!!

This song has amazed me when I first heard it, and the NEXT DAY after I download there is an updated version! Nonetheless, I can't see how this can be improved much more without entering the very fine details, and remains one of the few trance songs I truly like to listen to. 10/10 5/5

DjWalom responds:

Thanks man! :)

...?

Honestly, this REALLY sounds like it belongs as an intro to some 8-bit game, even without the 8-bit sound. I dig the melody, but it seems overdone as to the repetition. It needs some stronger of a drum beat through the song if you really want it to pick up some interest. 7/10 4/5

Electrk responds:

Thanks for the feedback! It's not stolen from a game if that's what you're implying. It's kinda an older song so it's very repetitive! You provided nice, constructive criticism. Thanks!

....

I've heard this somewhere before.... Yeah, 3/10 1/5. XP
